Who We Are

Westhampton Church is an intergenerational congregation deeply rooted in Richmond, Virginia. As we enter our second century as a church, we remain committed to growing in grace and in the knowledge and love of God, investing intentionally in future generations, and sharing the love of Christ through mission and service.

Sunday Mornings

9:00 AM — Word & Table Service

Word & Table is a family-friendly worship service that warmly welcomes everyone. Each Sunday, we sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; we pray together; we read and reflect upon scripture; we hear a message; and we celebrate communion with joyful reverence. In our Word & Table service, we try to create an environment hospitable to kids, youth, and families.

10:00 AM — Fellowship Hour

We gather for coffee, refreshments, light eats, and conversation during the Fellowship Hour each Sunday. All are welcome to join in this joyful, intergenerational social time.

11:00 AM — Traditional Worship Service
In our 11:00 worship service, we sing timeless hymns of the faith accompanied by organ and piano. We read and reflect on scripture together, and join together in fellowship and prayer. The sermon calls us to deeper reflection on the day's Scripture and proclaims the grace and glory of God's Word made known to us in Christ. This service includes traditional liturgies—like The Apostles' Creed, Gloria Patri, The Lord's Prayer, and Doxology every week. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Music for this service often includes choir, handbells, chamber ensembles, and soloists. Learn more →

OUR VISION

Westhampton Church is committed to growing in grace and in the knowledge and love of God, investing intentionally in the next generation, and sharing the love of Christ through mission and service.

OUR HISTORY

On November 9, 1924, Westhampton Methodist Church was organized. The first services were held in a large tent on a lot adjacent to the Masonic building. The congregation began to worship in its first sanctuary in 1939. Our current sanctuary was built in 1950. Westhampton's Christian Education building was added between 1953 and 1967.

We are a church with deep roots in the Westhampton community here in Richmond. And we endeavor to faithfully steward the great tradition we inherit, to further the great commission entrusted to all followers of Jesus, and to nurture a life-giving, Christ-centered community.

THE WESTHAMPTON
DAY SCHOOL

A primary mission outreach of Westhampton Church is the Westhampton Day School (WDS). Since its opening in 1953, WDS has been a vital part of the Westhampton community. A nationally accredited and award-winning school, WDS provides a full-day curriculum for over 200 students and employs over 40 dedicated educators. Learn more about WDS here.
